Memory is like Water

Memory is like Water

In this photo, I captured a memory of my mom. I feel like memories are so interesting, like they seem to be a constant moving and flowing force, for example, every time I recall a memory I recall it differently by either focusing on different aspects, re-remembering things or even creating new information to fill in the blanks. Sometimes memories can seem like they are fading into darkness, and other times they will be crystal clear. It can be easy to relate other memories together, drawing connections between all of your memories. All these aspects of memory just remind me of water.

Technique: I took two different photos using black and white film and then exposed both photos onto photo paper. I also did some burning and dodging around my mom when exposing the photo to eliminate the background, so it didn't clash with the water. Creating this layered effect was difficult, taking many different tries to get the photo to turn out just right.
