For this painting, my goal was to create multiple dualities. One is the black and white with the checkers. Checkers is a pattern I have always had a connection to. Another is the colors red and blue, which complement each other, yet are very opposite. The last duality I tried to incorporate is light and shadow, an expression of the good and the bad/the future and the past.
